HIGHLIGHTS

This year, the city will be treated to dance performances by some of the country’s legendary and path-breaking artists at a lovely outdoor venue-the iconic Cross Maidan. The festival promises a variety of splendid dance experiences- from classical to contemporary, from local Marathi flavours to the gypsy Flamenco of Spain.

Some of the highlights include Sannidhi- an amalgamation of seven Indian Classical Dance styles – Kathak, Bharatanatyam, Odissi, Manipuri, Kathakali, Kuchipudi, and Mohiniattam choreographed by Parwati Dutta; the unique masked dance form of Seraikella Chhau performed by Shashidhar Acharya’s group; Alarmel Valli’s collaboration with poet Arundhati Subhramaniam, Only until the light fades and Shama Bhate’s Nishabhda Bheda. The festival concludes with Astad Deboo newest production, Interpreting Tagore, a larger than life exploration of some of Rabindranath Tagore’s poetry.
